William Ross Watson

William Ross Watson, age 74, of Benedict, Nebraska, formerly of Palestine, TX, passed August 18, 2023 at his home in Benedict.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date,

William was born May 26, 1949 to Willie Homan and Lois Virginia (Inman) Watson at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He attended school and graduated from Hobbs High School in New Mexico. Following high school he joined the Air Force on October 16, 1967 and served until October 16, 1971.

He lived most of his life in Palestine, TX, where he began a 30+ year career with Baker Hughes in Texas where he began as an oil rigger then moving up in the company to Regional Sales Rep.

On January 5, 1970, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Jane Whitehead. To this union two daughters was born.

The family lived in Texas until moving to Nebraska in 2015.

He was a member of the American Legion Post in Stromsburg and the VFW in Palestine, TX.

He loved his grandchildren and his dog Lexie.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Benedict; daughters Michele (Dermot) McKenna of Lakeside, CA and Robin Watson of Benedict; 4 grandchildren: Emily McKenna of Lakeside, CA, Ross Watson and Riley Doremus, both of Benedict, Aiden McKenna of Port Hueneme, CA; nephews: Robert Scott and Casey Scott, both of Hobbs, New Mexico; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Lois Watson, grandson Harold O. Wise IV; sister Judy Dianne Scott; brother Jerry Roger Watson; and brother-in-law Raul Scott.
