Virginia Lee Pierson, age 95, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away December 3, 2020 at Southlake Village Rehabilitation and Care Center in Lincoln.
Graveside services will be held Monday, December 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stromsburg Cemetery with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating. A private family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg. Due to current COVID-19 health mandates, practice social distancing by maintaining at least 6 feet among attendees, family, staff, and clergy. Face masks are strongly encouraged.
Virginia was born September 23, 1925 at Bradshaw, Nebraska to Sander Sigfred and Effie (Johnson) Pierson. She attended school at Bradshaw Dist. #61, Benedict, and graduated from Aurora High School in 1942. She received a secretarial degree from Lincoln School of Commerce. She worked several years for Fairmont Creamery Co. as secretary to the manager in Lincoln; for the State Veterinarian's office as secretary and finally for the United States Forest Service as Business Management Assistant at Lincoln, beginning her career there in 1955 and retiring in June 1986. Virginia remained in her home until moving to The Legacy where she resided until recently.
She was a member of the National Secretaries Association, the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Club and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling and being with her parents, relatives and friends.
Survivors include: sister-in-law Marcia Pierson of Kearney, Nebraska; niece Terri Luthy of Lincoln; nephew Tim (Pam) Ellenwood of Funk, Nebraska; nephew Greg (Julie) Ellenwood of Republican City, Nebraska; niece Michelle (Steve) ten Bensel of Minden, Nebraska; great nephew Shane (Kazzi) Teel of Colton, South Dakota; great great nephews Connor and Teagan  and great great niece Tabor; special friend Bob of Lincoln; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Don Pierson.
Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements.
