Twyla Jean (Mentink) Anderson, 68, of rural Osceola, Nebraska, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 20th, 2018.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Brenda Pfeifly officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Organist will be Sue Lehn. Soloist will be Marge Berggren. Musical selections will be "On Eagle's Wings", "Amazing Grace", and "I Was There To  Hear Your Borning Cry." Pallbearers will be Doug Mickey, Dennis Mickey, Dan Mickey, Darin Mickey, Elliot Yungdahl, Landon Mentink, Steve Larson and Corey Nienhueser. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
She was born on February 24th, 1950 in Stromsburg NE to Kenneth and LeVina (Swanson) Mentink. She attended grade school in Osceola and graduated from Osceola High School in 1968. She then attended Kearney State College for one year before being united in marriage to Michael H. Anderson on August 15th, 1970.   They lived in Lincoln briefly prior to moving to the family farm north of Osceola where they began farming and raising cattle with their two children.  Twyla was a devoted mother, loving grandmother and worked hard on the farm.   She loved her cattle, trips to the Sandhills, and taking her kids and grandkids to the annual Burwell Rodeo. Twyla was also busy in the kitchen making dishes that were favorites enjoyed by all of her family and extended family - homemade pies, Swedish meatballs, chicken casserole (a favorite of her grandkids) and the Taco Salad served at every 4th of July.
Twyla lived for her children and grand children Savannah, Shyanne, Sawyer, Braxton, Halle, and Hudson and generously gave time and attention to them in so many ways, never wanting to miss one of their activities.  Her grandchildren adored her. She filled her home with love, hugs, and good food.  She also loved spending time with her sisters Donna and Bonnie, and her brother Reg. Her dear friends were always close to her heart too. Her legacy lives on in the family she held dear and she will be lovingly remembered in all of our hearts.
She is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Jeremy (Dena) Anderson of Osceola, NE; Justus (Scott) McCullough of Lawrence KS;grandchildren; Savannah, Shyanne and Sawyer Anderson of Osceola NE; Braxton, Halle and Hudson McCullough of Lawrence KS; sisters; Bonnie (Vaughn) Mickey of Stromsburg, NE; Donna (Elwyn) Yungdahl Stromsburg, NE; brother; Reg Mentink of Leadville, CO; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Kenneth and LeVina Mentink.
