Terry Duane Randell

Terry Duane Randell, age 76, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away January 5, 2020 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg. Terry was born on January 17, 1943, to Rudolph Ferdinand and Margaret Iliene (Rystrom) Randell of Stromsburg. He attended Stromsburg schools, graduating in 1960. He then attended the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy in Lincoln, graduating in 1967. Terry served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970, including time in Korat and Bangkok, Thailand. On December 17, 1966, he was united in marriage to Janice Louise Anderson at Augustana Lutheran Church in Omaha. To this union, two children were born. In 1976, the family moved permanently to Stromsburg, where Terry owned and operated Christensen Drug for 16 years. He then worked as a relief pharmacist, retiring in 2012. Terry was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2013, and in 2016 entered the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg, where he resided until his passing. Terry was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and served as treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and on the board of trustees. He was also active in the Stromsburg Commercial Club, Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA), Stromsburg Lions Club, Nebraska Pharmacists Association (NPA), the American Motorcycle Association, and Stromsburg American Legion Post #132. His favorite hobbies were riding motorcycles and ATVs, chatting with people all over the world on his ham radio, photography, camping, fishing, skiing, searching for geocaches, and sharing his Christian faith through CMA.

Terry will be remembered for his quiet, determined leadership; his gentle, supportive spirit; his warm hugs; his dry sense of humor; and his commitment to family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jan, of Stromsburg; daughter Jeana (Monte) Frazier of Seattle, and children Natalia, Helena, and Lara; son Jeff (Hannah) Randell of Aurora, and children Grace, Samuel, William, Claire and Everly; one brother Nick (Judy) Randell of Longmont, Colorado; sister-in-law Karen Fick of Omaha; four nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stromsburg, with Pastors Craig and Mary Pinley officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Stromsburg Legion Post #132. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Platte Valley Youth for Christ, Covenant Cedars Bible Camp or the Midwest Covenant Home.
