Shirley Lynelle (Holder) Erickson

Shirley Lynelle Erickson, age 68, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away May 17, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Memorial services will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stromsburg Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Brill officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the church. Pianist will be Gayleen Nestor. Violinist will be Merry Hanson. Musical selections will be “Jesus Loves Me”, “It Is Well With My Soul” and “Hallelujah.” Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Patterson, Ryan McKean, Ryan Sattler, Rick King, David King, Darrell Thomas, Matthew Pogue and Dennis Pogue. Inurnment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Shirley was born July 29, 1953 to Johnny Charles and Elizabeth Nell (King) Holder in Sedgwick, Kansas. The family moved with her mother and step-father Elizabeth and Lyle Patterson to Oklahoma where she attended school, graduating from Broken Arrow High School in 1971. She then attended college at Southeastern Oklahoma State majoring in music.

On February 10, 1979 she was united in marriage to Roger Lowell Erickson at Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born. Shirley began her career as a flight attendant for Frontier Airlines in 1976 based in Denver where the family lived until 1986. They moved to Stromsburg and Shirley worked first at MidAmerica Vision, Midwest Bank, both in York and then for the Postal Service in Stromsburg, Silver Creek, Genoa and Columbus. She then worked at Cornerstone Bank in Stromsburg until her retirement in 2016.

Shirley enjoyed reading, cooking, Nebraska football, volleyball and sitting on the front porch feeding the birds. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Lowell of Stromsburg; daughter Shannon (Ryan) McKean of Omaha, son Sean (Lauren) Erickson of Lincoln; step-daughter Stephanie Pates of Golden, CO; three grandchildren, Kennady, Rex and Hadley, step-granddaughter Jessica Pates; step-great grandchildren Dylan and Trace Pates; brother Scott (JoEllen) Patterson of Stafford, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Patterson, step-father Lyle D. Patterson and father Johnny Holder.

Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements.
