Sheila Dale (Strong) Lortz
Sheila Dale (Strong), Lortz, age 66, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away June 27, 2018 at 2:55 p.m. in Kearney, Nebraska at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by close family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg, with Pastor Murry Johnston officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Musical selections will be "On Eagle's Wings", "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You." Pallbearers will be Scott Beck, Travis Beck, Alan Strong, Gage Snook, Adam Snook and Larry Strong. Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Ferking, Niko Coy, Cameron Coy, Atticus Strong. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements.
Sheila was born March 16, 1952 in Lincoln, Nebraska to George Lloyd Strong Sr. and Betty Jane (Dearwester) Strong. Her siblings include Alan Strong, George Strong Jr., Georgia 'Lynn' Strong, and Julia Marie Strong. She attended various Nebraska schools throughout her youth. On June 26, 1969 she was united in marriage to Thomas LeRoy Lortz in Lincoln, Nebraska. To this union one daughter, Olene Kristi Lortz was born in 1970.
During 1969-1971 she moved to Maryland during the time her husband Thomas was in the Navy. During this time she proudly supported him and her country.
From 1971 until 1985 the family resided in Lincoln, Nebraska. During this time she maintained her household and raised her daughter. As a people person she worked in the Public School System and in private personal care for youth and elderly. From 1985 to 1992 they resided in Milford, Nebraska where she became certified as a medication aide. From 1992 to 2008 her and her husband moved back to Lincoln where she continued working in the private care sector. From 2008-2016 they retired to Sargent, Nebraska. Due to family health in 2016, they moved to Hershey, Nebraska to be closer to family. In 2017 until her death she lived in both Premier Estates and North Platte Care Facility.
Survivors include daughter Olene (Scott) Beck of Hershey; brother Alan (Barbara) Strong of Sprague; grandson Travis Beck and fiancé Rebecca Robinson of North Platte, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas LeRoy Lortz (August 2016), parents George Sr. and Betty Strong, sisters Julia Marie and Georgia Lynn Strong, brother George Strong Jr.
