Richard Charles Wilkinson

Richard Charles Wilkinson, age 83, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away June 23, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society in Osceola.

Richard was born December 18, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Donald C. and Lois (Clark) Wilkinson. At a young age the family moved to Lincoln where Richard graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. After graduating Richard joined the United States Air Force. He did his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base and served in Turkey from 1958 to 1962. He then lived in Wisconsin before moving to Kansas City where he received Rookie of the Year in stock car racing. Richard was a truck driver and worked for Snyder Fiberglass in Lincoln and then moved to California where he lived in Orange County working for P.I.E. (Pacific Intercoastal Express), and also did some Midget Racing while in California. He then did over the road trucking in California and moved back to Ord, Nebraska in the mid 1980’s. He moved to Shelby in 1999 and drove for UTI out of Rogers, Nebraska for many years, and also was a spot driver in Columbus.

Survivors include brothers Russell (Carol) Wilkinson of Plattsmouth, James (Tamra) Wilkinson of Waverly; sister Patricia (Jeff) Books of Arkansas; two grandchildren, Jake and Nick Wilkinson of Casper, Wyoming; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
