Richard Allan Kujath, age 68, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away March 21, 2026 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

A celebration of life will be held May 3rd from 1:00 to 4:00pm at Manes Lanes in Beatrice, Nebraska

Richard was born May 1, 1957 to Edward W. and Doris (Simpson) Kujath in Fairbury, Nebraska. He attended school at Tri County graduating in 1975. After graduation he moved to Phoenix, AZ to be with his brother. He then lived in various places including Las Vegas, Texas, Tennessee and back to Phoenix.

On November 7, 1982 he was united in marriage to Katherine Denise Klingbiel at her parents home in Las Vegas. They lived in Phoenix until moving to Tucson where Richard attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a BA in Literature in 1991. They then moved to Beatrice where he worked as a reporter for the Beatrice newspaper for many years. He coached little league baseball and worked many odd jobs. He was a published poet, contributing to a book titled “Misbehaving Nebraskans.”

In 2014 they moved to Omaha, then York and in May of 2025 they moved to Stromsburg.

He enjoyed acting in the community playhouse, attending rock and roll concerts and especially spending time with his wife and family. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears and the University of Arizona basketball and football. He loved sunshine and the desert outdoors.

Survivors include his wife Kathy of Stromsburg; sons Ricky (Jen Ptacek) of Omaha, Joe of Stromsburg; granddaughter Vayda Katherine;  siblings Peggy Coates of Beatrice, Johnny of Fairbury, and Gary of Crete; sisters-in-law Carol Kujath of Beatrice, and Patty Kujath of Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Doris; siblings Stanley, Dale, Jim, Dave, Janice Ackman and Judy Schwisow; sister-in-law Barb Kujath and brothers-in-law Michael Coates and Vic Ackman.
