Randy Davern Widga, age 66, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away April 12, 2022 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stromsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, April 15 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church. Organist will be Mary Ann Guggenmos. Musical selections will be “How Great Thou Art”, and “Amazing Grace”. Pallbearers will be Bryce Nielsen, Lynn Johnson, Jason Seaberg, Nathan Kindle, Jeremy Lange and Jacob Lange. Interment will be in the Swede Plain Cemetery.
Randy was born July 6, 1955 to Verland Dale and Janice Rae (Jones) Widga in Omaha. He attended Polk schools and graduated from Polk High School in 1973. He worked various jobs including at Purina in Polk, construction with Darrell Tonniges and was employed at VanHousen Feedlot.
He was united in marriage to Karen Pheigary. To this union one daughter and one son were born. Randy then began working at the Polk Elevator and later began farming with his father, Verland.
On February 14, 2003 he was united in marriage to Patricia ‘Patty’ Ann Burkhart in Osceola. They lived in Stromsburg and Randy worked at Overland Sand & Gravel. He then helped with harvest and planting for Bryce Nielsen.
Randy enjoyed tractor pulls, Nascar, collecting toy tractors, especially John Deere brand and spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Swede Plain Church until its closing. He then became a member of the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg, and he was a former member of the Polk Fire Department for over 20 years.
Survivors include his wife Patty of Stromsburg; children Amy (Tyler) Reynolds of Garnett, KS, Christina Bell of Lincoln and Nick (Arielle) Bell of Stromsburg; grandchildren Kelsey (fiance Daniel), Nathan, Cadon and Lane Reynolds of Garnett, KS, Zaeden, Gatsby and Lazarus Bell of Stromsburg; sister Rhonda (Larry) Lange of St. Paul, NE; brother Roger (Nathan Kindle) Widga of Fort Worth, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son Brandon Widga.
Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements.
