Patrick Hoeft Obituary

Patrick William Hoeft, age 58, of Shelby, Nebraska, passed away July 22, 2021 at his home in Shelby.
Memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola with Rev. Andrew Springer officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Osceola. Inurnment will be in the Shelby Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
Patrick was born May 24, 1963  to William Bruce and Gladys Ann (Kucera) Hoeft in Osceola, Nebraska. He attended Shelby Public School graduating from Shelby High School in 1982. While in high school he worked at Augustin Feedlot. In 1983 he began working for Union Pacific Railroad traveling across the United States and was fortunate to work with his dad and his brother Mike, for many years during his railroad career. Pat retired in 2013 after 30 years.
On March 10, 1986 he was united in marriage to Laura Mae Lerch in Osceola.
He loved taking his boat out to go fishing, enjoyed hunting, being with his family and grandchildren. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he would do anything for them. He also enjoyed woodworking in his shop, listening to rock music while working on cars, watching Husker football, riding motorcycles and he liked to make people laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his special cat "Boots."
Survivors include his wife Laura of Shelby; three daughters, Arlene (John) Orr of Omaha, Kaylyn (Kenny) Pearson of Shelby, Leann Petersen of Shelby; grandchildren, Gage Orr, Kamille Orr, Kenny Pearson Jr., Kingston Pearson, and Stiles Petersen; mother Gladys Hoeft of Lincoln; sisters Kathy (Nader) Farahbod of Lincoln, Julie McMahan of Lincoln; brother Mike (Beth) Hoeft of Columbus; sister Shelly Westfall of Lincoln, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Bill; brother-in-law Doug McMahan; mother-in-law Sumiko Lerch; sister-in-law Connie Crowell.
