Nate was born November 22, 1978 to Allen Rudeen Peterson and Kathryn ‘Kak’ (James) Swanson in Columbus. He attended school in Stromsburg graduating from Stromsburg High School in 1997. Nate worked at Polk County RPPD all through high school. Following graduation he attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and UNL. He then began working at Kirkam Michael and in 2010 began his career with Ayars & Ayars as a land surveyor in the Midwest region. He also worked on his & Talia's family farm with his dad Allen and his father-in-law Rob.

On September 28, 2013 he was united in marriage to Talia Rae Glasser. To this union he brought son Rafe and daughter Finley Peterson, Talia brought one son, Gage Friesen and also to this union one son was born, Cruze Peterson. They lived in Lincoln before moving back to Stromsburg in 2016 where they live on Nate’s family farm outside of Stromsburg.

Growing up he was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home and had been faithfully attending High Prairie Community Church in Polk since returning to the area.  His wife and children were his entire world and his love for them was easy for all to see. He was so incredibly proud of watching their accomplishments and was their biggest supporter.  One of his favorite things to do was watch his kids play sports.  He was also an avid Broncos, Royals and Huskers fan.

Nate had a love of music and he played the guitar.  He could hear three notes of a song and immediately tell you the name of the song and the band.  He loved to travel with his family and most recently they had vacationed in Florida and went skiing in Colorado, in addition to camping throughout Nebraska.  He had a love for entertaining people and hosting gatherings at the family farm.  Nate never encountered a stranger and brought a smile with every conversation.

To quote one of Nate’s favorite movies, “No one’s ever really gone.” ~Luke Skywalker.  His memory will live on in the lives of his children.

Survivors include his wife Talia of Stromsburg; children Rafe, Finley, Gage and Cruze; mother Kathryn ‘Kak’ (James) Swanson of Duncan; father Allen Peterson of Stromsburg; siblings Lesli (Darin) Mickey of Stromsburg, Heidi (Bryan) Corwin of Omaha; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother Lance Pfeifer.
