Mark Steven Udey

Mark Steven Udey, age 72, of Osceola, formerly of Swede Home, Nebraska, passed away March 29, 2024 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

A private family graveside service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Terry W. Patience officiating. Pallbearers will be past and present members of Troop 241 Boy Scouts. Inurnment will be in the Swede Home Cemetery.

Mark was born July 21, 1951 in Tilden, Nebraska to Don Samuel and Norma Eileen (Petersen) Udey. He attended school in various places, graduating from Silver Creek in 1969. He attended one year of college at Platte College in Columbus. On May 19, 1973 he was united in marriage to Penny Linn (Patience) Udey. To this union two daughters were born. They lived in Swede Home before moving into Osceola in recent years.

He worked for Grosch Irrigation for a few years before beginning employment with the Polk County Road crew. During this time he also began a partnership in RAYMARK Inc. in 1997, making and selling live edge furniture. Mark also mowed the Swede Home Cemetery for many, many years.

He retired April 1, 2017 from the Polk County Road crew after a long career in road maintenance, and retired from RAYMARK Inc. in 2018.

Mark was very involved with the Boy Scouts, serving as Scout Master of Troop 241 in Stromsburg. He helped 12 Boy Scouts achieve their Eagle Scout Certification.

Survivors include his wife Penny of Osceola; daughters Clerissa (Martin) Donati of Seattle, WA and Christina (Paul) Krivolavek of Lincoln; one grandson Ezven Krivolavek; two brothers Dana Udey of Columbus and David (Janelle) Udey of Osceola; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Norma Udey; and sister-in-law Joyce Udey.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
