Loyola Regina (Kosch) McMeekin

Loyola Regina (Kosch) McMeekin, age 95, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away December 21, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in Osceola.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Osceola with Father Val Bartek officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. rosary at the church. Organist will be Deb Girard. Musical selections will be "Be Not Afraid", "Amazing Grace", "On Eagle's Wings", "Song Of Farewell", "and "Let There Be Peace On Earth." Pallbearers will be Dennis McMeekin, Travis McMeekin, Ken McMeekin, Ryan McMeekin, Marcus McMeekin, Mitchell McMeekin, Robbie Reisdorff, Jacob Reisdorff, Christopher Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Zachary Wright and Alex Wright. Interment will be in the Osceola Cemetery.
Loyola was born November 14, 1923 to William and Julia (Hilger) Kosch at Shelby, NE. She graduated from Shelby High School when she was 16. Loyola then attended beauty school in Lincoln. On November 27, 1943 she was united in marriage to Robert James McMeekin at Shelby, NE.
The family resided on a farm north of Osceola and for many years where Loyola was a beautician from her home. Her biggest accomplishments were raising her 10 children and being a farm wife. Loyola lived on the farm for 57 years before retiring and moving to Lincoln in 2005 where her friends knew her as Lyla.
On August 17, 2017 Loyola moved back to Osceola residing at the Good Samaritan Society.
Loyola was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Legion Auxiliary, Town and Country Extension Club and the Mother of Twins Club. Loyola enjoyed gardening, playing cards, loved to dance and care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her 10 children, Robert (Rogene) McMeekin, Shelby; Bill (Sharon) McMeekin, Columbus; Timothy, (Julie) McMeekin, Seward; Patrick (Ginger) McMeekin, Kearney; Kathy Wright, Lincoln; Barb McMeekin (Kim Pelowksi), Lincoln;  David (Debbie) McMeekin, Dublin, GA; Michael McMeekin, Columbus; Michelle McMeekin, Columbus; Todd McMeekin (Lori Behnken) Osceola; 21 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, one sister Mary Rose Schmid, Bellwood and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Julia Kosch; husband, Robert, who passed away March 21, 1989; grandson, Jason McMeekin Schmoker, four brothers, Eugene, Leo, Wilhelm and Al Kosch.
