Leona Marie Noyd, age 100, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, formerly of York, passed away December 24, 2018 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Memorial services will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Midwest Covenant Home Chapel with Pastor Leonard Suhr officiating. Organist will be Deb Franz. Musical selections will be "Mountain Over the Hillside" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Leona was born November 27, 1918 to Reese C. and Elizabeth Ellen (Stever) James at Villisca, Iowa. When Leona was eight years old the family moved to Stromsburg, Nebraska. She attended Stromsburg schools.
On September 4, 1937 she was united in marriage to Everett Myron Noyd in Columbus, Nebraska. The family lived in Stromsburg. In the spring of 1948 they moved to the farm west of Stromsburg. Everett passed away in 1986, and Leona then moved to York where she lived until December of 2017 when she moved to the Midwest Covenant Home where she resided until her passing.
She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, baking and gardening.
Survivors include her children Dwayne of Chilothe, California, Deverne of York, Paula Boye of Lincoln, Ronald of Lincoln; 21 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Everett; children, Marlyce Brumbaugh, LeLand Noyd, Elaine Ackerman; sisters Pearl and Opal James, Pauline Lyons, Gertrude Cadwell; brothers, Paul, Tom, LeRoy, Robert, Don, Reese; granddaughter Dawn Noyd.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
