Lanny M. Nielsen, 73, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, July 20 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg. He was born to Morris and Jerlene Nielsen on March 24, 1952, at the Stromsburg Hospital. He graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1970. On March 10, 1979, he was united in marriage to Dianne Kaeding at the Evangelical Covenant Church. To this union, 4 children were born: Sunshine, Eric, Johanna and Rachel. He spent his life farming west of Stromsburg and was the owner/operator of Nielsen Repairables. He enjoyed supporting his children and seven grandsons in all their activities.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dianne; children, Sunshine and Corey Metschke of Lincoln; Eric and Nikki Nielsen of Adel, IA; Johanna Nielsen and Rachel Nielsen of Stromsburg; grandsons, Jacob Nielsen of Stromsburg; Bennett, Kaed and Cameron Nielsen of Adel, IA; and Luke, Samuel and Levi Metschke of Lincoln; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Clarence Hoffman of York; Janet Fangmeyer of Deshler; Jeanne and Ric Stuhr of Houston, TX, and numerous family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Jerlene Nielsen; brother Daniel; in-laws, Merle and Evelyn Kaeding, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Nielsen farm at 12432 I Rd., Stromsburg on Saturday, August 30 at 2:00 p.m. The family suggests casual clothing.
