Kenneth Hanson Obituary

Kenneth Vance Hanson, age 94 of Stromsburg, Nebraska went home to be with the Lord, Saturday April 29, 2023 at the Annie Jeffrey Hospital, Osceola NE. Kenny was born to Oscar and Carolina (Silen) Hanson on December 12, 1928 in Stromsburg NE. Kenny was the youngest of 10 children. He had six brothers and three sisters. Shortly after birth his mother passed leaving his young sisters to care for him.

Kenny started farming at an early age and farmed close to 70 years. He was a very hard worker and could repair anything that broke. Kenny enjoyed playing games. He was an expert Domino player and was always ready for a game of Rook. He enjoyed spending time at the Stromsburg Senior Center playing pool and cards. He was known for his quick wit, contagious laugh and strong faith in the Lord. He enjoyed keeping his old tractors running, traveling with the York Fun Club and visiting with family.

He was loved by his family and many friends. If you spent any time with him, you could not help but like him. He loved animals and had many horses, dogs and cats.

He was united in marriage to his wife, Jeanette (Gleason) in York on June 11, 1950. This union was blessed with three children.

Kenny was a long time member of the Stromsburg Covenant Church. In his later years he was a member of the Living Word Church. In his last years, he resided at the Midwest Covenant Home.

Survivors include sons, Kerry (Pam) Hanson of Maricopa, AZ, Russ (Dixie) Hanson of Stromsburg, NE and daughter, Donna (Rich) Jarecke of Elkhorn NE; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Stephanie) Jarecke of Elkhorn, NE, Noah Hanson of Maricopa, AZ, Nicholas (Brittany) Jarecke of Waterloo, NE, Dusty (Brenda) Hanson of Gilbert, AZ, Macy (Lena) Hanson of Madison, MS, Cody (Karen) Hanson of Lincoln, NE, Tristan (Priscilla) Jarecke of Kerrville, TX and Casey (Rebeka) Hanson of Peoria, AZ and great- grandchildren, Hudson Jarecke, Aubrey Jarecke, Maren Jarecke, Ruby Jarecke, Addison Jarecke, Dawson Jarecke, Delaney Jarecke, Maverick Hanson, Hendrix Hanson and Simon Hanson; sisters-in-law Janine Kranz of Waco, NE and Ruth (Sidney) Hanson of Stromsburg, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, all his brothers and sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the Stromsburg Covenant Church. Pastor Michael Ulffers will be officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. preceding the services. Organist will be Carolyn Hanson. Soloist will be Mary Hanson. Musical selections will be “How Great Thou Art”, “Amazing Grace” and “Victory In Jesus.” Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Jarecke, Nicholas Jarecke, Noah Hanson, Dusty Hanson, Macy Hanson, Cody Hanson, Tristan Jarecke, and Casey Hanson. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Desserts will be served immediately following the church service and burial.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
