Judith 'Judy' (Koenig) Gleim Obituary

Judith “Judy” (Koenig) Gleim passed away on January 31, 2026, at Country House Residence in Lincoln, Nebraska.

A private family graveside service will take place at the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Judy was born to Bruno and Mary Jane (Tyriver) Koenig at St. Anne’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She was confirmed at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. At the age of eight, her family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she later graduated as Salutatorian of the Class of 1961 from Lutheran High School.

On February 17, 1973, Judy married Theodore “Ted” Gleim in Long Beach, California. To this union, three children were born: Jeremiah (Amanda) Gleim of Lincoln, Nebraska, with sons Maximus, Deacon, and Gordon; Gillian (Tim) Hendrix of Cassville, Missouri, with sons Cooper and Stratten; and Lacey (Travis) Brohman of Milford, Nebraska.

Moving from Los Angeles to rural Stromsburg, Nebraska, upon marriage was an adjustment, to say the least—gravel roads, clear blue skies, and party-line telephones. Judy adapted well, while still enjoying frequent trips back to California. She spent her time gardening, helping move farm machinery, and her favorite task—laying out and picking up irrigation pipe (always on one end!).

After the birth of her first child, Judy taught Lamaze classes in York, Nebraska, for two years. She later worked for 11 years in the offices of Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola, Nebraska, where she was one of Polk County’s HIPAA instructors. Judy also served as church treasurer and as co-treasurer of the Nebraska Christian Home Schooler Association for several years. In addition, she assisted with the Polk County Census driving her Mini Cooper car on two occasions.

In 2015, Judy and Ted moved from rural Stromsburg to a home they built in Lincoln. Following the move, they became members of Southwood Lutheran Church.

Judy was a devoted wife, mother, and beloved Nonnie to her family. She took pride in her appearance and always wanted to look her best. She enjoyed walking her two Shihpoo dogs, Lizzy and Darcy, doing crossword puzzles, and reading on her Kindle—often several books at once—with Louise Penny as her favorite author.

Left to mourn Judy are her husband of nearly 53 years, Ted; her children and grandchildren; her brother, Michael (Joyce) Koenig of Aliso Viejo, California; her sister, Linda (Jim) Harrison of Carmichael, California; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements. Dubasfuneralhome, com
