Joyce Ann Micek, age 84, of Shelby, Nebraska, passed away July 17, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Columbus.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby with Father Allan Phan officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Shelby Cemetery.

Joyce was born February 15, 1941 in Shelby to Louis Richard and Margaret Frances (Pickrel) Scow. She attended Dist. #16 elementary school and Shelby High School graduating from Kramer High School in Columbus. She grew up on a farm north of Shelby. Following graduation she later attended Platte College where she earned her LPN degree.

On November 5, 1960 she was united in marriage to Charles H. Micek at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. To this union five children were born. They family lived in Columbus.

Joyce worked as a Social Services Director at Midwest Covenant, retiring in 2007.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby, Rosary leader at Mass, past board member of the Parish, Altar Society officer, former CCD instructor, St. Anne’s Guild, Cursillo (February 2003), Cursillo Secretariat (secretary), Cursillo School of Leaders, Cursillo Rollo team, and Cursillo Palanca team.

She enjoyed reading, puzzles, gardening, flowers and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Rick (Jodi) Micek of Utica, Linda (Randy) Perry of Shelby, Chick (Casey) Micek of Osceola, Tracy (Staci) Micek of Monroe and Darci (Steve) Blohm of Columbus; 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles ‘Chuck’ Micek who passed away June 3, 2020; her parents Louis and Margaret Scow; sister Debra Glatter; and brother Robert Scow.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
