Jerry LeRay Nutz, age 71, of Osceola, Nebraska passed away September 7, 2021 at his home in Osceola.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Haddam, Kansas cemetery.
Jerry was born September 24, 1949 to Walter Edward Sr. and Bertha Melisse (Sedan) Nutz at Thompson, Nebraska. He attended school in Marrowville, Kansas and graduated from Haddam High School in 1967.
He served in the United States Army from November 3, 1969 and was released from active duty on May 5, 1972. He fulfilled his service obligation, being released from the reserves June 25, 1975. After returning from the service he worked on a farm near Fairmont.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Werner on July 3, 1973. To this union one daughter was born. Jerry began working for Burlington-Northern Railroad working in Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming and Iowa. He was a road master and crew supervisor, retiring in 2009.
Shortly before retirement Jerry moved to Osceola where he resided until his passing.
Jerry loved his family.
Survivors include one daughter Angela (Kyle) McCown of Lincoln; two grandchildren Sidney and Tyler; three step-daughters Deborah (Steve) Yates of Geneva, Jody (Troy) Hemberger of Lincoln and Marcy Murphy of Fairmont; eight step-grandchildren: Cale, Shawn, Kelsey, Carley, and Bailey Yates, Taylor and Trenton Hemberger and Jordan (Zach) Norrid; brothers and sisters: Bonnie Jean Elliott of Hebron, Lawrence Lee Nutz of Fairmont, Wanda Grace Henderson of Glasco, Kansas, Mabel Rosalie Comstock of Belleville, Kansas, Linda (Eldon) Falk of Wheaton, Kansas, Wayne Allen (Joan) Nutz of Osceola, LeIla June Zenger of Haddam, Kansas; sister-in-law Michelle Nutz; brother-in-law Alan Pralle; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Walter Edward Nutz Jr., Charles David Nutz; sisters Ruth Ann Pralle, Patty Lynn Enslinger; brother-in-law Basil Elliott; sister-in-law Joyce Nutz; brother-in-law Jerry Comstock; brother-in-law Larry Zenger
