Jean Joanne (Feeser) Nekl, age 86, of Shelby, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, June 20 at the Good Samaritan Society in Osceola
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Leo Seiker officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, June 22 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. followed by a 6:00 p.m. Rosary at the church. Organist and soloist will be Judy Vrbka. Musical selections will be "Here I Am Lord", "The Old Rugged Cross", "One Bread, One Body", "Song of Farewell", and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers will be Jason Voss, Jacob Nekl, Seth Gutz, Samuel Gutz, Joshua Nekl, Dr. Casey Nekl, Tyler Nekl and Tad Nekl. Interment will be in the Shelby Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements.
Joanne (Granny) was born October 22, 1931 on the farm one mile west and 1/2 mile south of Gresham to Guy and Mary (Walters) Feeser. She grew up in the Gresham and Shelby area. She attended and graduated from Shelby High School. On May 8, 1951 she was united in marriage to Eugene (Nick) Nekl at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby. To this union four children were born: Ricky, Becky, Dixie and Reggie. Joanne was a very hard worker, she worked for State Farm Ins., Jack & Jill grocery store in Shelby, First National Bank, A & B Lounge and at Reg's 7 Mile Steak House up until the time of her death. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always willing to help her family. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include son Rick and Deb Nekl of Shelby; grandson Jacob and Shelly of Shelby, granddaughter Heidi Kelly of Omaha, grandson Dr.'s Casey and Emily of Camden, NC; daughter Becky and Mike Voss of Shelby; grandson Jay and Gail Voss of Lincoln; granddaughter Tabitha and Rocky Kudron of Waverly; daughter Dixie and Tim Gutz of Columbus, granddaughter Sarah and Jon Zatechka of Omaha; grandson Seth and Emily of Lincoln, grandson Samuel and Stacy of Bennington; son Reggie and Bonnie Nekl of Shelby, grandson Josh and Jen Nekl of Dublin, Ireland, granddaughter Megan and Kelly Logan of Double Oak, Texas, granddaughter Libby and Adam Bellamy of Omaha, granddaughter Betsy and Tony Krafka of Bellwood; brother Hollis and Pat Feeser of Rochester, MN; brother Dennis and Cindy Feeser of Sargent Bluffs, IA; 23 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Nekl of 58 years, who passed away December 9, 2009; parents Guy and Mary Feeser and brother Frank Feeser.
