Janet Kaye Simpson, age 71 of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away November 30, 2024 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg with Murray Jones officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Musical selections will be “Amarantine” and “Long, Long Journey.” Pallbearers will be Carol Jones, Monty Jones, Tim Teegerstrom, Tim Waller, Tim Campbell and Ryan Berggren. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Rose Colored Glass.

Janet was born September 17, 1953 in Stromsburg to Peter Ralph and Glennis Adeline (Lindeblade) Simpson. She attended school in Stromsburg, graduating in 1971. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She began her career working in Dinner Theatre in Colorado, Georgia, and Rockville, MD. She then worked in New York City for the past 40 years for Music Theatre Associates, which is a subsidiary of Columbia Artists, as Booking Director and eventually as Vice President. After retiring she moved to Stromsburg in November of 2023 where she resided until her passing.

For 20+ years she enjoyed spending time at her cottage in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, gardening and getting away from the city. Her hobbies included needlepoint, crochet and antiques.

Survivors include her brother Gary (Peggy) Simpson of Centennial, CO; nieces: Kristin Simpson of Manhattan, KS, Laura (Scott) Riley and children Logan and Jackson of Littleton, CO, and Marsha (Danny) Boyce and Sawyer, of Longmont, CO; uncle Merlin Simpson of Stromsburg; numerous cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, life partner of 40 years, Gary McAvay, aunts and uncles.

Memorials are suggested to the Cross County High School Theatre program.
