Janet June Grossnicklaus, age 66, of Shelby, Nebraska, passed away November 13, 2022 at her home in Shelby.
Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Andrew Litt officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, November 25 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. followed by a 6:00 p.m. Rosary at the church. Musical selections will be “In The Garden”, “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", One Bread, One Body", and "Be Not Afraid." Inurnment will be in the Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Janet was born August 8, 1956 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Robert D. and Agnes F. (Vyhlidal) Kloke. She attended elementary school at Sacred Heart Catholic school in Norfolk. The family moved to David City in 1965 where she attended St. Mary’s and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1975.
Janet worked for Hughes Brothers Inc. and then Double Dutch Dairy. She also cooked for Meals on Wheels in Stromsburg.
On August 18, 1990 she was united in marriage to Tim Grossnicklaus in Seward. They made their home in rural Shelby.
Janet enjoyed staying at their cabin, fishing, collecting antiques and spending time with family.
Survivors include her husband Tim of Shelby; step-children: Kala (Brian) Greenwalt of Grand Island, Billy (Mel) Grossnicklaus of Oxford and Kylie Grossnicklaus of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren: Logan Taylor, Lucas Taylor, Bekah Taylor, Ashley, Skyler and Carson Grossnicklaus and Aldan Greenwalt; siblings: Pat (Chuck) Sanley of Seward and Ken (Ruth) Kloke of Seward; sister-in-law Margaret Kloke of David City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Agnes Kloke and brother Roger Kloke.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
