Iva 'June' Church, age 81, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away October 12, 2021 at Litzenburg Memorial County Hospital Long Term Care, in Central City, Nebraska.
A private family graveside service will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Bureau Cemetery near Clarks, Nebraska. Pastor Ford Shenk will be officiating.
June was born June 7, 1940 in Silver Creek to Foster and Iva (Colby) Scott. She attended country school near Polk and graduated from Polk High School in 1957. After graduating she went to Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nashville, Tennessee as a backup singer with her sister Marvelle.
On August 23, 1958 she was united in marriage to Harold 'Turk' Lloyd Church in Osceola. To this union four children were born. They lived on the family farm near Clarks where June helped her husband on the farm. Over the years she volunteered at school, did babysitting and made costumes for many occasions. She also made many quilts over the years and enjoyed crocheting and needle point.
Harold passed away July 15, 2008 and in 2014 June moved to Osceola where she volunteered at Blue Valley until they hired her. She also worked at Sweet Electric for a time.
She attended the Hordville Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids.
Survivors include her children Melody Richards of Osceola, Tammy (Travis) Boden of Osceola, Jeffrey (Christine) Church of Stromsburg; daughter-in-law Marge Church of Lexington; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold 'Turk' Church; parents; one son Dick; one grandson Richard; brothers Ray Scott, George Scott, Billy Scott; sisters Shirley LeSuer, Doris Cermak, Thelma Lohse, Marvelle Howe, and Marge Cerny.
Memorials are suggested to the family in lieu of flowers.
Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements.
