Grant Lavern Miller, age 48, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away February 22, 2024 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 26, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sromsburg Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Brill officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 25 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the church. Pianist will be Carolyn Hanson. Musical selections will be “Greatest Love Story”, “Lord, I Need You”, and “How Great Thou Art.” Pallbearers will be Wayne Schultis, Brian Haug, Kevin Kohmetscher, Eugene Goecke, Joel Stevens, John Andrews, Gaylen Ahlquist and Brandon Ahlquist. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Grant was born July 5, 1975 in Aurora, Nebraska to Lloyd Lavern and Phyllis Naomi (Maybon) Miller. He attended school in Stromsburg, graduating in 1993. He then attended Southeast Community College in Milford, where he received his Associates in Surveying in 1995 and became a licensed land surveyor. On September 28, 1996 he was united in marriage to Amy Sue Hanson. To this union four children were born. Grant worked in Columbus for two years and the family moved to Stromsburg in 2000. He was employed as a land surveyor for Kirkham Michael, and then Olsson.
He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America and was an Eagle Scout, Cub Scout Leader, and Scout Master. He was an officer for the Stromsburg and Cross County Alumni Association. He also served on the City of Stromsburg Zoning Board and was county surveyor in multiple counties.
He enjoyed cooking, smoking BBQ, cars, fishing, spending time with family and friends and took pride in his kids achievements.
Survivors include his wife Amy of Stromsburg; children: Hunter (Kennedie) Miller of Valentine, Kaylen (Micah) Sessions and daughter Willow of Kearney, Garrett Miller and Levi Miller both of Stromsburg; mother Phyllis Miller of Stromsburg; sisters Michele (Steve) Teegerstrom, Annette (Tom) Kaus and Latricia (Scott) Gierhan; brother-in-law Scott (Jill) Hanson; sisters-in-law Tami (Chad) Urwin and Jill (Blake) Craig; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Lloyd Lavern Miller.
Memorials are suggested to the family in lieu of flowers to be designated later.
