Gordon Lee Clark, age 94, of Osceola, Nebraska passed away June 23, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society in Osceola.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Shelby with Pastor Soonil Park officiating and Pastor Ted Pearson assisting. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.Musical selections will be "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers will be Nathan Thelen, Casey Thelen, Eric Kimmons and Joey Rucks. Interment will be in the Shelby Cemetery with Military Rites by Shelby Legion Post.
Gordon was born August 2, 1928 to Ross and Nina (Snedecker) Clark in Shelby. At a young age Gordon’s father passed away and he was raised by his mother and Jesse McMillan. He graduated from Shelby High School in 1946. After graduating Gordon joined the United States Army March 14, 1951 and served in Korea until March 1953.
On July 4, 1951 he was united in marriage to Georgia Lee Treadway in Shelby. Following his marriage Gordon continued his service in Korea before returning stateside to serve in Washington D.C.
The family moved back to Shelby where Gordon worked for 1st National Bank for a short time. He then began a career selling life insurance for Guarantee Mutual Life. He retired from the insurance business and joined his wife in their craft business, traveling the country to various craft fairs, making many friends over the years. They retired in 1995. They became snowbirds and enjoyed their home in Apache Junction, AZ.
He was a member of the Shelby United Brethren Church and then Shelby Methodist Church after the merge. He was also a member of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Grand Patron of Nebraska and Masonic Lodge, Bridge Clubs, and Village Players community theatre in Shelby. He served many positions in the church and community over the years.
He enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, and ballroom dancing.
Survivors include daughters Neena (Dan) Thelen of Stromsburg and Melissa Clark of Shelby; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia who passed away July 31, 2018; parents; and one grandchild Alyssa Thelen; two brothers Vinton (Marian) Clark and Russel (Darlene) Clark.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
