Ethelene G. Lux, age 97 of Shelby, Nebraska, passed away September 28, 2024 at Butler County Health Center in David City.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby with Father Andrew Litt officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, September 30 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at the church. Organist will be Avis Rathje. Soloists will be Stacy Stewart and Denise Humlicek. Musical selections will be “Here I Am Lord”, “Be Not Afraid”, “On Eagle's Wings”, “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman”, “Amazing Grace”, and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” Gift Bearers will be Mya, Cora, Alexa and McKenna Stewart. Reader will be Richard Gillespie. Pallbearers will be Leone Eikenhorst, Charles Scheinost, Bill Gillespie, Connie Johnston, Diane Reznicek and Pat Morgan. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Shelby.

Ethelene was born April 20, 1927 in Lindsay, Nebraska to Frank and Emma (Baches) Dohmen. She attended school in Lindsay and graduated from Holy Family Catholic School in 1945.

On June 1, 1948 she was united in marriage to Francis Lux at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. To this union four children were born. The family lived on a farm southeast of Shelby. In 1970 they moved into Shelby where they built a new home.

Survivors include son Steven Lux of Akron, Ohio; daughters Lou Ann (Alan) Saighman of Blue Springs, MO and Nancy (Tom) Bassford of Overland Park, KS; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one brother Melvin (Mary Lee) Dohmen of Iowa; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis, who passed away May 1, 1996; baby daughter Mary Jo in 1958; three sisters Lucille Busselman Mary Lou Preuss and Imelda Livingston; two brothers Donald Dohmen and James ‘Jim’ Dohmen.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
