Doris Fae (Smith) Ward, age 80, of York, Nebraska, passed away January 22, 2021 at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in York with Pastor Tony Dawson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Doris was born August 6, 1940 in Stockham, Nebraska to Henry and Margaret (Friesen) Smith. She attended school in Hampton graduating in 1958. Following high school she moved to York and worked at various places for many years.
On June 19, 1992 she was united in marriage to Jodie Ward in York. Doris continued working in York until her retirement in 2011.
She enjoyed motorcycle trips, camping, fishing, crocheting, quilting, and baking. She was proud of her upbringing as a farm girl and enjoyed passing on traditions she was raised with.
She was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson prior to becoming a member of the First United Methodist Church in York. She was also a member of the Methodist Church Women.
Survivors include her husband Jodie of York; son Ramon (Rachelle) Huber of Lincoln; daughter Susan (Mike) Marsh of York and their daughter Elizabeth; children Diana Ward of Stromsburg, Leland (Connie) Ward of York and Christy (Tom) Tripp of York; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; brother Harvey (Marjorie) Smith of Henderson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother and sister-in-law Alfred and Marlyce Smith.
Memorials are suggested to the family or the First United Methodist Church in York.
