Donald J. Paulson

Donald Joseph Paulson, age 67, of Osceola, Nebraska passed away September 20, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in Osceola. 

Donald was born in Wayne, Nebraska on September 27, 1956 to Lloyd Edwin and Bette (Brandl) Paulson. He spent his early years on the family farm southwest of Winside, Nebraska where he attended school. In 1969, he moved to Norfolk with his parents and younger brother, right across the street from his future wife and her family. He graduated from Norfolk High School in 1974. 

He was united in marriage to Heidi Ernst on May 30, 1979. To this union four children were born. 

He started working and became manager of a KFC store, but most of his working years were spent in the vending business. He became service manager for the Fanner Company in Norfolk and in 1995, moved to Fremont to be service manager at The Phelps Vending Company. After his retirement in 2021, he and his wife moved to her family farm near Swede Home. He spent the last year and a half at Good Samaritan Society in Osceola due to his Alzheimers. 

He was a #1 Nebraska football fan, and enjoyed hunting, golf, taking care of his lawn and flowers, coaching and watching his children excel at sports and just being a grandpa. His work was always important to him. He worked hard, but never complained. 

Survivors include his wife, Heidi of Osceola, his children: sons Joshua of Fremont, Clinton (Katie) of Omaha, Marcus (Michelle) of York and daughter Stephanie (Andy) Chevalier of Webster, SD, 9 grandchildren, his sisters Susie (Terry) Kucera of Sandpoint, MI, Sharon (Larry) Lefever of Deerfield, FL and brother Mike (Kandy) of Fremont and a host of other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, an older brother Larry and a nephew Curt Paulson. 

Funeral services will be October 4th at 10:30 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home. Interment will be in Swede Home Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
