Darrell Lee Windhorst, age 84, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away February 13, 2021 at his home in Stromsburg.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at a later date at the Stromsburg Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family in lieu of flowers to be designated later. Cards may be sent to 505 Home Street, Stromsburg, NE 68666.
Darrell was born December 11, 1936 to Ervin John and Agnes Daisy (Ocobock) Windhorst at Nora, Nebraska. He attended school in Deshler graduating in 1954. He then went to trade school in Wichita, Kansas to become a television service and repair man.
He was united in marriage to Jeannette Kopcho, and to this union three daughters were born.
Darrell served in the United States Army from March 25, 1959 through January 14, 1964 where he served as a radio operator.
Darrell worked as a TV repair man and later started York TV Service.
On July 12, 1985 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Kay (Anderson-Gustafson) Windhorst. He retired in 1999 and in 2000 they built a new home in Stromsburg where he enjoyed his retirement.
He was a member of the Stromsburg American Legion and Salem Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed sports, carpentry, working in his yard, trips to the mountains to enjoy jeep rides and ATV's.
Survivors include his wife Gerry of Stromsburg; daughters Brenda (Ken) Clark of Benedict, Shelly (Kim) Windhorst of Benedict, Amy (Dave) Haberman of Utica; step-children, Angela (Doug) Evans of Waverly, Jeff (Chris) Gustafson of Omaha; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Agnes Windhorst; and one sister Darlene Heckenlively.
Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements.
