Dale George Buchta

Dale George Buchta, age 99, of Stromsburg, (formerly of Osceola) Nebraska, passed away January 1, 2022 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Dale was born March 17, 1922 to George F. and Gladys (Sutton) Buchta in Polk County.

Dale served in the United States Coast Guard from September 29, 1942 to October 23, 1945.

On January 13, 1944 he was united in marriage to Jessie (Jaye) M. Blackburn in Oakland, CA. In 1945 they returned to farm northwest of Osceola where they resided until the late 1970’s when they retired and moved into Osceola. They enjoyed traveling to Driftwood, TX where they enjoyed many winters. Dale moved to the Midwest Covenant Home March 18, 2019 where he resided until his passing.

Dale was a Ham Radio operator. They owned a cabin at Burwell where he enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed hunting ducks especially when he was younger. He liked to go to the senior center and visit with friends.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First United Methodist Church of Osceola.

Survivors include nieces, nephews: Robert (Joni) Johnston, Cathy Johnston, Bob (Patricia) Blackburn, Jim (Pat) Blackburn, Deb Gartner, Wes Bitney, Denise Petersen, and Boyce (Kathy) Bitney; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Jaye who passed away June 28, 2014.

Memorials are suggested to the Osceola First United Methodist Church.

Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements.
