A private family interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Corinne was born in Shelby, Nebraska to Byron and Frances (Malmen) Johnson on September 30, 1930. She attended Pleasant Corner country school, just across the road from her home, through eighth grade. She graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1947. After high school she attended business school in Omaha, and then returned home and did secretarial work for an attorney in Osceola until she married.

On March 19, 1950 she was united in marriage to Robert Baker at the Stromsburg Baptist Church. Eight children, four boys and four girls, were born to this union. Corinne took care of this family as a farm wife and homemaker for the next 30 plus years. Once all the children were grown and graduated high school she worked at the Federal Land Bank office in Osceola and later as a CNA at the Midwest Covenant Home for several years.

Corinne was baptized and joined the Stromsburg Baptist Church at age twelve. In addition to caring for and teaching life lessons to her eight children she found time to be very active in the community and church including their choir, Sunday School, her church circle, Women’s Ministries, the American Legion Auxiliary and Woman’s Club. Corinne also assisted at the Swedish Festival Smorgasbord and Grandma’s Kitchen and volunteered at the Stromsburg Senior Center. Her greatest joy was her family and all their activities and accomplishments in school and their careers. In retirement she especially enjoyed spending time with friends at her birthday club and church circle, reading, sewing and crossword puzzles.

Corinne was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Baker who passed away March 1, 1996; her parents; sister Joan Wegmann and brother-in-law Joe Wegmann; and grandsons, Kyle Petersen, Justin Baker and Ethan Baker.

Survivors include her children, Dr. Kevin (Anne) Baker of Sheridan, WY, Randy (JoAnn) Baker of Omaha, Lori (Karen) Bauman of Duluth, MN, Brice (Lisa) Baker of Stromsburg, Julie (Rick) Warner of Fort Myers Beach, FL, Lou Ann (Gregg) Manske of Lincoln, Carolyn (Dave) Petersen of Stromsburg, Dr. Douglas (Amy) Baker of Carbondale, IL; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; her brother LeRoy (Glenda) Johnson of Columbus; and a host of other relatives and friends.
