Connie Jean (Gondringer) Thelen

Connie Jean Thelen, age 71, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away June 23, 2022 at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stromsburg Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Keet Redden officiating. A private family visitation will be held Sunday. Inurnment will be in the Union Cemetery.

Connie was born October 11, 1950 in Osceola to Clarence ‘Sam’ and Mabel (Abbott) Gondringer. She attended elementary school north of Shelby and graduated from Shelby High School in 1969. Following graduation she attended beauty college in Columbus.

On April 17, 1971 she was united in marriage to Robert R. Thelen at Shelby Sacred Heart Catholic Church. To this union three children were born. The family resided in Shelby until 1995 when they moved to Stromsburg. Connie worked as a beautician for 20 years before starting a career in food service. She worked at A & B in Shelby, Shelby Public Schools, Annie Jeffrey Hospital, Stromsburg Senior Center and in retirement worked part time at Cross County School in Stromsburg.

She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Stromsburg, and was chairperson for the Free Church Women Ministries (FCWM).

She loved being a wife, mother and grandmother, listening to music, cooking, visiting on the phone, gardening, playing cards and doing extensive cleaning in her house.

Survivors include her husband Robert of Stromsburg; daughter Samantha (Aaron) Micek of Shelby; sons Nicholas (Bailey) Thelen of Elkhorn and Trevor (Abigail) Thelen of Trumbull; nine grandchildren Austin Micek, Alex (Katelynn) Micek, Camille (Tyler) Schultz, Madelyn Thelen, Connor Thelen, Jennings Thelen, Keylea Thelen, Trevin Huebner and Hadleigh Thelen; one great granddaughter Hazel Schultz and one great granddaughter arriving any day; sister Linda Larson of Osceola; a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Delton Braithwait, Ross Braithwait, Phyllis Brandt and Shirley Svec.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements.
