Carol Alt Obituary

Carol Ann Alt, age 75, of Shelby, Nebraska, passed away September 12, 2020 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
A public visitation will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola. The family will not be present. Due to current COVID-19 health mandates, practice social distancing by maintaining at least 6 feet among attendees, family, staff, and clergy. Face masks are strongly encouraged. A private family graveside service will be held Saturday, September 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shelby Cemetery with Pastor Dale E. Coates officiating. Musical selections will be "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Whispering Hope". Pallbearers will be Steve Alt, Andy Alt, Christofer Alt, Jamie Alt, Aric Alt, Aron Alt, Dave Wysk and Sean Alt.
 Carol was born September 5, 1945 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Harol and Edith (Young) Lovelace. She attended elementary school in the Ulysses area and graduated from Seward High School. She then attended  business school in Lincoln.
On April 30, 1966 she was united in marriage to Francis Edward Alt Jr. in Yankton, SD. To this union three sons were born. They resided in Shelby, Tennessee, Kansas, Ulysses before returning to Shelby in 1980.  She worked as a dispatcher at the Polk County Sheriff's Department and then worked at the Polk County Probation office, retiring in January of 2007.
She was a member of the Shelby Legion Auxiliary, an EMT for the Shelby Volunteer Rescue Squad. She was active in the Rising City Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women, member of a quilting club and made Quilts of Valor.
Survivors include sons Steve (Devine) Alt of Murrieta, CA, Andy (Annette) Alt of Columbus, Christofer (Brenda) Alt of Shelby, Jamie (Kristi) Alt of Urbandale, IA; daughter Jamie Smith of Englewood, CO; 12 grandchildren: Debbie Colon, Dave Wysk, Stacey Alt, Sean Alt, Aric Alt, Aron Alt, Ashtin Balfour, Ashlea Whitney, Aleah Alt, Alexi Carlyle, Tarina Kofoed and Lacie Alt and eight great grandchildren; niece Brenda Dolezal and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis Alt, who passed away June 2, 2015; brothers Melvin Lovelace and Ronald Elton Lovelace; sister Lois Gaughen and one niece Judy Paulsen.
Memorials are suggested to Quilts of Valor, Shelby Legion Auxiliary or Shelby Volunteer Fire and Rescue and may be mailed to Carol Alt Family, P.O. Box 322, Shelby, Nebraska 68662.
