Burdette Sisty Obituary

Burdette Lewis Sisty, age 77, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away January 31, 2021 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg,
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating. The family has requested that masks be required to attend. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 2, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Organist will be Mary Ann Guggenmos. Congregational hymns will be "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Because He Lives." Pallbearers will be Mark Collingham, Chase Collingham, Jude Collingham, Brett Williams, Allan Pruter, Mike Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Norman, Steve Lindquist, Tim Teegerstrom, Monty Henkel, Gary Chrisman, Tom Marsden, Gaylen Ahlquist, Lauren Burg and all of Burdette's coffee friends.
Burdette was born January 5, 1944 to Wayne and Anna (Burg) Sisty in Stromsburg. He attended Stromsburg schools, graduating from Stromsburg High School in 1961.
Following high school he began working as mechanic at Johnson Service in Stromsburg. He later owned and operated Parkview Standard Station in Stromsburg.
On June 9, 1973 he was united in marriage to Cheryl Ann Chrisman in York, Nebraska. To this union one daughter was born. Burdette continued working as a mechanic at various locations including Tonniges in Osceola, Farmer's Cooperative in Stromsburg, and worked for Husker Coop of Columbus managing their stations in Osceola and Silver Creek. He retired from Penner's Tire and Auto in 2008. Following retirement he worked part time delivering parts for the Napa Rally Auto Parts store in Stromsburg.
He was a member of the Stromsburg United Methodist Church, Swede Capital Cruisers, Masonic Lodge, NRA and was a Stromsburg Volunteer Fireman for 32 years.
He enjoyed camping, riding dirt bikes, restoring old cars, and going to coffee each day.
Survivors include his wife Cheryl of Stromsburg; daughter Michelle (Allan) Pruter of Stromsburg; four grandchildren, Brett, Ava, Phillip and Little Miss; nephew Mark (Cheri) Collingham, and niece Wanda (Mike) Johnson; special grand-dog Bentley; other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Bessie McCord; special uncles Carl (Evelyn) Sisty, Don (Dorothy) Burg; and cousin Dennis Burg.
Memorials are suggested to the Stromsburg United Methodist Church or Stromsburg Fire and Rescue.
