Bonnie LoRee Mickey, age 84, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away February 13, 2026 at Bryan East in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Wayne Nestor officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, February 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be Andrew Mickey, Tanner Mickey, Brandon Larson, Devin Mickey, Damon Mickey, and Brody Mickey. Honorary pallbearer will be Mickey Larson. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Bonnie was born March 21, 1941 in Stromsburg, Nebraska to Kenneth and LeVina (Swanson) Mentink. She grew up on the family farm between Osceola and Shelby. She loved helping with the livestock and farming. She attended McBeth County School #21 where she rode her horse to school everyday. She attended Osceola High School, graduating in 1958.

On December 27, 1958 she was united in marriage to Vaughn Mickey at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola. To this union six children were born. They lived in the Osceola area before moving to Stromsburg in 1971 where they joined Salem Lutheran Church and raised their family. Bonnie did lots of gardening, canning, butchered chickens, and milked cows. She later worked several part time jobs before starting hanging wallpaper, which she did for 35 years. She loved making cinnamon rolls and homemade rye bread for her family, along with elderberry jelly and her famous mac-n-cheese. Oh how blessed we were to have such an amazing, gifted, loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her children: Doug (Becky) Mickey of Columbus, Dennis (Lynette) Mickey of Lincoln, Jody (Steve) Larson of Stromsburg, JariLe Roberts of Lincoln, Daniel (Connie) Mickey of Columbus, and Darin (Lesli) Mickey of Stromsburg; 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister Donna Yungdahl of Stromsburg and brother Reggie Mentink of Leadville, Colorado, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vaughn Mickey who passed away December 1, 2021; parents Kenneth and LeVina Menink; grandson Mickey Larson; sister Twyla Anderson; and brother-in-law Elwyn Yungdahl.
