Billie 'Bill' Kumpf Obituary

Billie 'Bill' Dean Kumpf, age 89, of Omaha, (formerly of Shelby) Nebraska, passed away December 16, 2019 at Prairie Meadows
Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Omaha.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola with Pastor Dan Cloeter officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Organist will be Louise Wheeler. Congregational hymns will be "Children Of The Heavenly Father", and "Here I Am Lord." Special family music will be "Silent Night",  and "Amazing Grace." Pallbearers will be Kevin Smith, Glenn Asche, Blake Smith, Grant Smith, Alex Asche, and Evan Asche. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Dellovechio, Rachel Dellovechio, Andi
Dellovechio, Dave White, Robert White, Annelle Hyland and Denise Braasch. Interment will be in the Shelby Cemetery with Military Rites by Shelby Legion Post #296. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola, or Shelby Fire and Rescue.
Bill was born December 3, 1930 to Otto Fred and Mabel (Carter) Kumpf in Shelby,
Nebraska. He attended Shelby schools graduating from Shelby High School.
On November 25, 1951 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Paulsen in Rising City. To this union three daughters were born, Paulette, Leslie and Reneé. They moved to the home farm two miles north and 1/4 mile east of Shelby in July. On July 22, 1952 Bill was inducted into the United States Army where he served in the Korean Conflict. During this time Patricia lived with Bill's mother in Shelby. Bill was discharged on May 21, 1954.
When Bill was discharged they moved back to the farm where they continued farming and feeding cattle until moving to Lakeside Village in Omaha on December 31, 2014.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, former board member of the church, Shelby American Legion Post #296, former board member of Farmers Co-op in Shelby, Ryan Hill Country Club, Platte Valley Cattleman's Association, and Nebraska Cattleman's Association. In 1985 they were the Jaycee's, Shelby area, Farm Family of the Year.
They enjoyed dancing and belonged to The Holiday Dance Club of Columbus, NE, they also enjoyed
playing cards as members of a Pitch club. He liked mentoring young farmers and having coffee with the area men. He was a caregiver of land and family, a patriarch.
Survivors include daughters Paulette (Daniel) Dellovechio of Omaha, Leslie (Kevin) Smith of Fremont, and Reneé (Glenn) Asche of Omaha; six grandchildren: Rachel Dellovechio, Andi 'Andrea' Dellovechio, Blake (Melissa) Smith and Grant Smith (fiancé Rebecca 'Becca' Moeller), all of Omaha, Alexander (Shelby) Asche of Grand Island and Evan Asche of
Omaha; two great grandchildren: Nora Lee Smith and Emmeline Blake Smith both of
Omaha; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia Ann who passed away December 26, 2018, and two sisters Doris Ann (Dean) White and Doreen (Ed) Daro.
