Anne Wagner Obituary

Anne M Wagner entered eternal life with her Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family on Friday, May 22, 2026. Anne was born on June 7, 1934, at home in Storla, South Dakota to Roy and Edith (Fraser) Guindon. From an early age, her life was rooted in faith, family, service, and the steadfast promises of God.

On November 10, 1957, Anne married the love of her life, David Erwin Wagner. Side by side, they helped operate the Ace Drive-In, where many remember Anne’s delicious pork tenderloins and welcoming smile. Together, they also founded Wagner Decorating in York, building not only a business, but a legacy of dedication and service to their community.

On November 2, 1958, Anne publicly confirmed her faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain, South Dakota, choosing as her confirmation verse Revelation 2:10: “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” Those words became a testimony to the life she faithfully lived—trusting Christ in every season and pointing others to His grace and goodness.

Anne was a woman who faithfully served others throughout her life. She was deeply involved in the American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as president and held several local and district offices. She was also an active member of the VFW Auxiliary. Her patriotism and servant’s heart were evident in the countless American flags she lovingly mended by hand and in the many letters and care packages she sent to deployed troops. In recognition of her unwavering support and encouragement for military service members, she was honored by the Nebraska National Guard. One of her fondest memories was meeting President Eisenhower in the Oval Office.

Anne treasured her family above all else. Nothing brought her greater joy than attending and cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, concerts, and activities. Her faithful presence in the stands and at countless events reflected her deep and abiding love for her family.

Known for her kindness and community spirit, Anne was also honored as a Yorkfest Queen—a fitting tribute to a woman who touched so many lives with grace and joy.

Anne leaves behind her seven sons: Steven (Cathy) Wagner of Ulysses, Kansas; David (Holly) Wagner of Garland, Nebraska; Daniel Wagner of Ulysses, Kansas; Mark (LeeAnn) Wagner of Valentine, Nebraska; Gregory (Lynne) Wagner of Maricopa, Arizona; Bruce (Jessica) Wagner of York, Nebraska; and Mathew (Tammy) Wagner of York, Nebraska. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends who were blessed by her kindness and love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Ray (Frankie) Guindon & Don (Ruthie) Guindon; sister, Renee (Jack) Miller; mother and father in law, Mildred & Erwin Wagner.

Anne’s life was a beautiful witness to the hope found in Jesus Christ. She loved deeply, prayed faithfully, served selflessly, and trusted completely in God’s promises. Her gentle spirit, servant’s heart, and enduring faith touched countless lives. While her family grieves her absence, they find comfort in the words of Scripture and in the confidence that, because Christ lives, Anne lives also.
