Allen Robert Willits Obituary

Allen Robert Willits, age 68, of Clarks, Nebraska, passed away July 14, 2024 at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Hospital in Osceola.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola with Pastor Raleigh White officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 17 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church. Musical selections will be “I Have Seen The Light”, “Find Us Faithful” and “Celebrate Me Home.” Pallbearers will be Todd VanHousen, Todd Wheeler, Kevin Peterson, Adam Peterson, Jon Wren and Chadd Frideres. Interment will be in the Osceola Cemetery.

Allen was born February 18, 1956 in Stromsburg to Robert Grant and Alice Lorraine (Johnson) Willits. He was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home. He attended and graduated from Polk High School in 1974. He then attended Wesleyan University and the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He returned to Osceola and began working at the Simplot Fertilizer plant.

On October 15, 1977 he was united in marriage to Carita Peterson at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola. To this union three children were born, Jason, Grant and Alyssa. Al then started working for Builders Supply in Osceola and later began farming, continuing to do carpentry.

He was a baseball coach, Scout Master, and went on mission trips. Al was proud to serve Polk County as a firefighter for 46 years in Osceola and later in Polk.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, playing cards and totally adored his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include his wife Carita of Clarks; son Jason (fiance Veridiana) of Wilmington, DE, Grant (Megan) Willits and children Pacey, Izzabelle, Leo, Emmett and Kai of Sioux Center, IA, daughter Alyssa Willits and her daughter Neena of Oklahoma City; sisters Sharon Johnson of Polk, Delores (Jack) Rahrs of Lincoln and Bev (Dave) Autrey of Surprise, AZ; brother-in-law Brian Mesner of Central City; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Louise (Dean) Wheeler of Osceola, Karen (Bruce) Bugbee of Taylor and Keith (Jane) Peterson of Osceola; nieces, nephews, a host of friends and all his brotherhood of firefighters and golf partners.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Alice Willits; sister Pam Willits Mesner and in-laws Wes and Lois Peterson.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
