Virgil Ackerman Obituary

Virgil Ray Ackerman, age 67, of Benedict, Nebraska, passed away December 5, 2018 at his home in Benedict.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Brenda Pfeifly and LeRoy Hoyer officiating. Organist will be Sue Lehn. Musical selections will be "Amazing Grace", "I Can Only Imagine" and "I Believe." Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Virgil was born July 23, 1951 to Herbert and Bessie Lucille (Grigsby) Ackerman in Central City. The family lived in Aurora then York before moving to Thayer. Virgil graduated from Centennial High School in 1969.
On December 2, 1971 he was united in marriage to Elaine MarVelle Noyd at York. To this union three children were born.
Virgil worked at the Hay Mill, Scott-Hourigan Irrigation and in 1981 began working with Northern Agri Services where he worked as a welder until his passing.
He enjoyed family, grandchildren, mowing, woodworking and trips to Walmart.
Survivors include his children, Anthony (Shari) Ackerman of Bradshaw, Brenda (Mike) Arkel of Osceola, Jamie (Jason) Negley of Polk; brothers: Earl and Herbert Ackerman Clarence Brahmsteadt Jr.; sisters Helen Bernard, Mary Wolfe, Frances Cunningham and sister-in-law Juanita Ackerman; grandchildren Joseph (Autumn) Arkel, Jenna, and Jaxxon Arkel, Sydney, Cooper, and Cash Negley; special friend Dorene Gustafson of Osceola; mother-in-law Leona Noyd of Stromsburg and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine who passed away May 30, 2015; parents; step-father Clarence Brahmsteadt; brothers Lonnie and Jerome.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements.
