Tommie Gonnerman Obituary

Tommie Rae Gonnerman, age 83, of Stromsburg, Nebraska passed away June 3, 2019 at the York General Hearthstone in York, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stromsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Spearow officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 5 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg. Organist will be Mary Anne Guggenmos. Congregational hymns will be "How Great Thou Art", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", and "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers will be Mark Gonnerman, Brian Gruber, Christopher Gruber, Eric Haug, Sean Bade, and Dustin Bingman. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
Tom was born August 5, 1935 to Jesse 'Ted' Paul and Georgia Maude (Eve) Gonnerman at York, Nebraska. He attended country school southeast of Stromsburg and graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1952. Following high school Tom began his farming career. He married Christine Wegmann in 1952. To this union three children were born, Joe, Judy, and Jnel.
In 1998 he was united in marriage to Janice Ann (Widga) Beckman and he welcomed two step-sons.
Tom continued farming southeast of Stromsburg for over 60 years.
He was a member of the Stromsburg United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge in Gresham where he served as Past Master before joining Stromsburg Lodge #126 where he was a 60 year member and was awarded the Masonic Lodge Bronze Jordan Medal in August of 2018. He was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star #192, and served as Worthy Patron. In 1962 he joined the Scottish Rite and Sesostris Shrine. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA.
He enjoyed traveling, camping and spending parts of the winter in Yuma, AZ. He also enjoyed Nebraska football and volleyball. But he mostly enjoyed his family gatherings and later in life spending mornings at the coffee shop visiting with friends.
Survivors include his wife Janice of Stromsburg; son Joe (Emily) Gonnerman of York, daughters, Judy (Leland) Gulbrandson of Lincoln and Jnel (Rick) Gruber of Benedict; step-sons Scott (Julie) Beckman and family of Brooklyn Park, MN and Chad (Shauna) Beckman and family of Lincoln; grandchildren Kurt Gonnerman, Mark (Sarah Sharkey) Gonnerman, Jocelyn (Sean) Bade, Erin (Eric) Haug, Kelsea (Dustin) Bingman, Jennifer (Darrell) Daugherty, Molly (Jeff) Heng, Brian (Kimberly) Gruber, Kelli (Paul) Gribben and Christopher Gruber; 10 great grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren; one niece, two nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Georgia Gonnerman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Robert Carlson and Ruthie and Duane Keyes; one nephew Ted Carlson and one niece Georgia Joachim.
Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements.
