Russell R. Kreis
Russell R. Kreis, age 54, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away April 8, 2019 at his residence. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Brenda Pfeifly and Pastor Mike Ryan officiating. Organist will be Sue Lehn, soloist will be Paul Cuneo singing 'Amazing Grace'. Inurnment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery with military rites.
Russell was born October 8, 1964 to Bob and Margo (Cuneo) Kreis in North Hollywood, California. The family moved to Stromsburg where Russell attended school graduating in 1982. He then joined the United States Air Force on March 9, 1983 and served in various places including, Mississippi, South Korea, Greenland and Offutt Air Force Base for the last many years of his service achieving the rank of Master Sargent. While stationed in Bellevue, he served on the Military Honor Guard retiring March 31, 2005.
Throughout his service, Russell had achieved an Associate in Applied Science Instructor of Technology and Military Service on August 23, 1991, he then received an Associates Degree in Electronic Systems Technology on August 24, 1992 and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Mississippi University, May 13, 2005.
After retiring, Russell moved to Lincoln and taught Basic Electronics at Southeast Community College which he enjoyed up until his passing.
For many years he studied Shaolin Ngor Chor Kung Fu, a form of Martial Arts. Russell also enjoyed judging Robotics competitions at many different schools along with his love of the farm. He also enjoyed playing the most challenging levels of Sudoku and puzzle solving.
He was a member of the Stromsburg Masonic Lodge #126 AF and AM and the Sesostris Shriners.
Survivors include his father Bob and special friend Chris Gonnerman of Lincoln and his mother Margo Cuneo, of Lincoln, Russell's special friend, Kandi Brown of York, brother Chuck (Wendy) Kreis of Kearney, two sisters, Cindy (Dan) Klein of Benedict, Kim and lifepartner (Donna) of San Francisco, CA, 9 nieces and nephews and 2 great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
Memorials may be directed to Cindy Klein, 2213 Road N., Benedict, NE, 68316, in lieu of flowers and will be designated at a later time.
Dubas Funeral Home, Osceola and Stromsburg, is entrusted with arrangements.
