Maxyne M. Williams, age 101, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, (formerly of Columbus, NE), passed away Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  with Pastor Leonard Suhr officiating at the Stromsburg Cemetery. Maxyne Margaret (Swanson) Williams was born September 5, 1916 to Einer and Rose (Flodman) Swanson in Stromsburg. She graduated from Stromsburg High School and went to work at The Headlight. In March 1941, Maxyne was united in marriage to Thomas M. Williams from Polk. Tom's job had them traveling the Midwest until they settled in Stromsburg and later in Columbus in 1953.
Maxyne worked various jobs over the years with the most recent at Columbus Community Hospital, retiring at age 70. Maxyne was a member of the United Methodist Church, Methodist Church Circle, Columbus Community Hospital Volunteers, Bakers Dozen Extension Club, Beta Sigma Phi and a lifetime member of Eastern Star. She was on a bowling team until the age of 90, enjoyed the Huskers, loved dancing, singing, high heeled shoes and said she had never been bored a day in her life. She enjoyed traveling and a highlight of her travels was a trip to Sweden.
Maxyne is survived by: daughter Wylene Novicki of Fullerton; daughter Kristin Williams of Columbus; daughter and son-in-law Tamara and Gregg Stokke of Lincoln; grandchildren: Jill Novicki of Columbus; Thomas (Patty) Novicki of Plainview; Gina (Andy) DeFreece of Omaha; Evan Williams of Omaha; Brooke (Kevin) Drought of Lincoln; Erin Stokke of Lincoln, Robyn (David) Welch of Omaha; Ben Stokke of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren: Madison (fiancé Cody Wisieski) Novicki of Lincoln; John Thomas Novicki of Wayne; Nate, Jack and Seth Defreece of Omaha; Emma, Gaby and Tanner Drought of Lincoln; Brayden and Jordan Blake of Lincoln; Avery and Colton Welch of Omaha; niece Kim (Swanson) Schaeffer of Columbus; nephew Lorlin (Mary Ellen) Barber of Des Moines, IA; great nephew Owen Barber of Des Moines, IA.
Maxyne was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Williams in 1958; parents Einer and Rose Swanson; sister and brother-in-law Loren and Lorraine Barber; brother Duane 'Buck' Swanson; twin brothers Wallace and Waldo in fancy; daughter Sheridan Williams Forman, July 17, 2017; and niece Jerilyn Barter, August 8, 2018.
