James Leon Gabel
James Leon Gabel, age 61, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away November 2, 2018 as a result of an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Osceola with Father Val Bartek officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, November 8 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church followed by a 7:00 p.m. Rosary.  Interment will be in the Osceola Cemetery.
James was born March 14, 1957 in Osceola to Charles Leon and Mary Jo (Rolenc) Gabel, the oldest of seven children. He attended school in Osceola, graduating in 1975.
James lived in Osceola his whole life where his passion was farming with his father Charles.
James enjoyed being in the outdoors and growing his crops. He also enjoyed spending time at his lake home near Clarks where he liked boating and fishing.
He was a member of St. Vincent’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his siblings: Jane Hill of Columbus; Judy (Kevin) Koznick of Minneapolis, MN; Jack (Dian) Gabel of Dixon, CA; Joyce Gabel of Boise, ID; Jolene (Bruce) Jefferies of South Bend; and Jeri (Mike) Wichert of Omaha; 12 nieces and nephews: Danielle Reab of Columbus; Desiree Hamilton of Plattsmouth; Travis McMeekin, Princess Baeza and son Hunter all of Greenwood; Michaela (Matt) Peterson of Omaha; Shantel McMeekin of Boulder, CO; Jacob Gabel of Rapid City, SD; Jason Gabel of Wahoo; Joshua Gabel of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Brooke Wichert of Omaha; Thomas Wichert of Omaha; step-niece Dana Bittner of Omaha and step-nephew Blake Jefferies of Lincoln; 13 great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Jo Gabel; and one brother-in-law David Hill.
