Helen Marie Johnson, age 91, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away September 11, 2018 at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, Nebraska
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Brenda Pfeifly officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 13 at Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Helen was born May 16, 1927 to Walter and Marie (Druba) Hoffman at Stockham, Nebraska. She attended country school northwest of Benedict and graduated from Benedict High School in 1945. After graduating from high school Helen began working at the egg factory in York.
On October 6, 1946 she was united in marriage to Verlin Milford Johnson at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg. To this union two children were born. Verlin began his lifelong career in farming renting Henry Peterson's ground west of Osceola. Helen was a farm wife and was the local Avon representative for over 55 years.
She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, and Women's Circle.
Helen was an avid bowler, 4-H leader for many years, and served on the election board. She loved gardening and flowers making floral arrangements for Salem Lutheran Church along with taking care of the planter boxes outside. She enjoyed going to their cabin in Duncan and fishing.
Survivors include her children, Debby (John) Harper of Lincoln, Randy (Carmen) Johnson of Osceola; one granddaughter Kim (Nick) Cordonier of Lincoln; brother Curtis (Naomi) Hoffman of Harlingen, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Verlin who passed away February 21, 2017.
Memorial are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church.
