Arnold Duane Dowling
Arnold Duane Dowling, age 86, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away July 27, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Osceola.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Osceola with Pastor Teri Lucas officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Organist will be Louise Wheeler. Musical selections will be "The Old Rugged Cross", "Mansion Over the Hilltop", and "When We All Get To Heaven." Pallbearers will be Devin Brown, John Munson, Jerome Brown, Dillon Stewart, Darren Stewart, Seve Dowling, Thomas Dowling, Kevin Dowling and Caleb Dowling.  Honorary pallbearers will be Norm Hofbauer, David Ienn, Al Miller, Danny Wieseman and all of his coffee, hunting and Legion buddies. Interment will be in the Osceola Cemetery with Military Rites by Osceola Legion Post #91.
Arnie was born February 17, 1932 at Hartington, Nebraska to Arthur A. and Dorothy M. (Wrenn) Dowling. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1950.
Arnie served from December 10, 1952 to December 1, 1954 in the United States Army during the Korean War, followed by 6 years in the United States Army Reserves.
On March 15, 1972 he was united in marriage to Eileen J. Blitzkie at the Osceola United Methodist Church. Over the years Arnie worked as an electrician, worked at a creamery, on a horse farm, as a butcher at the Albion Locker for 20 years followed by the Osceola Locker, drove a feed truck for Purina and Kent feeds at the County Feeders Supply and drug store delivery man for Bailey Drug.
Arnie enjoyed gardening, polka music, old hymns, "Castle" TV series, golf, coffee with the boys and old westerns.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Osceola Legion, 40 and 8, Masonic Lodge, Lions Club and the Osceola Fire Department for 25 years. Arnie also served as Marshall for the Polk County Fair for many years. He will also be remembered by many for dressing up in his Santa Clause suit and visiting homes whenever requested.
Survivors include his wife Eileen of Osceola; four children from a previous marriage,  Crystal (Al) Elznic of Newman Grove, Joy (Jerry) Brown of Tilden, Todd (Julie) Stewart of Meadow Grove, Troy (Rhonda) Dowling of Hampton, and two daughters , Tamara Dowling of Omaha, Tari Dowling of York; sister Marilyn Sanderson of David City, 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Arthur, sister Margaret and five infant grandchildren: Joshua Troy Dowling, Ty Lawrence Stewart, Isaac Todd Stewart, Arnold Jerome Stewart, and Katie Jo Stewart.
